Composting Month is celebrated annually from March 22 to April 22, aligning with two key global environmental milestones: World Water Day and Earth Day. Originally launched in Argentina, this initiative has expanded internationally, engaging countries such as Uruguay, Chile, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Spain.<\/p>\n
Its main objective is to promote source separation and composting of organic waste, encouraging a cultural shift toward more sustainable and regenerative consumption models.
\nApproximately 50% of household waste is organic. When disposed of in landfills, this waste generates greenhouse gas emissions\u2014primarily methane\u2014contributing to climate change. Composting, however, transforms this waste into a valuable resource while avoiding these emissions.
\nComposting produces a natural fertilizer that improves soil structure, enhances water retention, and provides essential nutrients. It supports soil regeneration, reduces reliance on chemical fertilizers, and promotes biodiversity.<\/p>\n
Key benefits include:

Different composting methods can be applied depending on the context:

Throughout the five-week campaign, activities such as workshops, training sessions, community fairs, seed exchanges, and awareness campaigns are organized to bring composting closer to everyday life.
